GEOFENCING

Creates a virtual parameter that warns the user if the current position is in or out of this zone

Overview
With BONAV's Geofencing customized firmware solution, users and system designers will be able to create a variable sized circular perimeter using a point of interest as its center. The module will then intelligently inform the host processor through serial protocol whether or not if the current receiver's position is outside or inside the geofencing zone.
Background
Geofencing is one of the must-have features found in almost all of the telemetric applications such as fleet management, AVL, child and pet trackers. Geofencing is a virtual zone set on a geographical scale that allows a telemetric device to warn the user if he/she is entering or leaving this pre-designated zone.

It is used majorly to confine a company vehicle to stay within the assigned boundaries of work, or to make sure the person, child, or pet tracked by the GPS device remains safely inside the perimeter. It is also used to designate dangerous or unsafe areas and will warn the user if trespassing occurs.

When combined with a wireless cellular network, it can be a useful notification system for remote monitoring solution which not only increases productivity for businesses, but also security for the assets or loved ones being tracked by GPS.

Solution
BONAV offers a special firmware which allows the user to enable the geofencing function and set the location of the center and the radius size of the circular geofencing zone.

Once set, the module will output a special proprietary serial protocol that lets the user know whether or not if the user is inside or outside of this zone.

In addition, the distance between the current location and the center of the geofencing zone, as well as other information such as estimated position error and minimum recommended geofencing zone size are calculated to help the system designer in having a higher level of flexibility when implementing this function.
